Construction Project Engineer

M Moser Associates San Francisco is looking for a Construction Project Engineer!

Job Overview

As our Construction Project Engineer you will play a key role in the execution of our design build solutions. Working closely with our Construction Manager, you will implement innovative construction and exceptional project execution techniques for highly complex workplace transformations. It will be your job as the Construction Project Engineer to manage the day to day project needs, ensuring all projects are delivered seamlessly and on-time, within scope and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage project execution independently working directly with clients
  • Qualify proposals received by subcontractors against the construction documents
  • Compose RFI’s and communicate response to field personnel, revising construction documents accordingly
  • Develop and update supply chain, materials, and cost databases
  • Build costs and budge estimates to split up packages and bid leveling
  • Oversee changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Monitor projects' compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
  • Participation and application of DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan to constantly maintain injury-free environments including performing weekly safety audits
  • Assist the Construction Manager in the implementation of M Moser policies and the execution of the project
  • Preparation, monitoring, and updating project schedules; working with on-site staff to reduce project constraints’ impact on the schedule
  • Preparation, maintenance, and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
  • Distribution of new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties
  • Preparing agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for various meetings including owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings
  • Monitoring testing and inspection record and reports, safety inspection and accident logs and reports, record building permit inspections and sign-offs.

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar Project Engineer role in a architecture, design, construction, engineering, or related field
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or construction/building related area of study
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Word, project management software (Bluebeam, Plangrid)

  • Organized work approach with the ability to adapt and adjust as required to support the projects' current needs
  • Experience with the entire project lifecycle, from pre-lease services through post-occupancy
  • Experience in leading and managing contractors, subcontractors and vendors to create a cohesive delivery team
  • Understand process, change orders, documentation and have active industry involvement
  • Site experience in the field working hand in hand with construction partners
  • Exemplary skills in dealing with people, able to work with others
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures a plus
  • Organized and able to oversee a complex process
  • Detailed knowledge of the assigned project scopes with a 100% hands-on approach
  • A desire to seek out and resolve construction problems /conflicts that arise during design and construction phases
  • Goal-orientated approach to promptly coordinate and resolve project issues within the project team (including interfacing with designers, engineers, and owners)
  • Excellent listening and strong communication skills
