Design Lead - Workplace Interiors

M Moser Associates SAN FRANCISCO, CA is looking for an accomplished Senior Conceptual Interior Designer to take on a lead design role in an Associate –Design position, guiding our project teams to win and execute some of the most notable workplace transformation projects in the business.

Job Overview

The job of an Associate – Design with M Moser Associates is to lead concept design and storytelling with a cross disciplinary team to define new experiences and opportunities for M Moser Associate's clients.You will play a key role in advancing our design solutions while maintain enthusiasm about achieving client’s business goals. It will be your job to lead the pre-schematic design process, working closely with clients and providing the direction necessary to team members to execute projects once they are won! This is a CREATIVE position and we are looking for a Senior Designer who is inspired by generating original ideas and considering design impact on multiple scales, from the individual to the urban context.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leading project teams and other consultants to uncover integrated, innovative, and interdisciplinary solutions to design problems
  • Consulting with clients to establish design concepts and parameters, including how space will function, budget considerations, and aesthetic preferences
  • Generating conceptual designs using a variety of graphic techniques, including hand-drawn and computer-generated visuals, and work with Project/Cost Manager to prepare preliminary cost estimates
  • Presenting design concepts to team members and clients for approval
  • Preparing written specifications, working drawings, and construction documents, including verification that designs meet applicable building codes where necessary
  • Delivering and winning design presentation opportunities for new medium sized projects on a regular basis
  • Guiding the work and progress of Design team drawings, studies, specifications and other project tasks on multiple projects
  • Establishing and maintaining trust between the project team, client and other project stakeholders
  • Monitoring and maintaining a high level of design quality within the project team.
  • Problem-solving project design issues and applying inventive solutions.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in workplace interior design or architecture
  • Extensive workplace specific design experience is an essential requirement in this role
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design or other related field
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), InDesign
  • A portfolio of signature conceptual design work, including several workplace transformation projects

  • Must have experience and confidence in delivering design pitches to corporate clients
  • Ability to maintain design integrity from design concept to on-site construction
  • Effectively contribute to multiple projects at the same time
  • Knowledge of local codes and permitting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exemplary people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with clients, senior management, colleagues and junior team members
  • Interest and experience in mentoring younger designers and promoting a positive attitude
