Senior Workplace Designer


M Moser Associates Vancouver office is hiring a Senior Workplace Designer.

Our Senior Designer will have the opportunity to both lead and mentor junior team members, take the lead on creative projects, and collaborate and learn from our Design Director and Group Director.

Job Overview

This is a CREATIVE position and we are looking for a Senior Designer who is inspired by generating original ideas and considering design impact on multiple scales, from the individual to the urban context. You will play a key role in advancing our design solutions while maintain enthusiasm about achieving client’s business goals.

It will be your job to lead concept designs and storytelling to define new experiences and opportunities for M Moser’s clients. From here you will work in tangent with our design teams of architects, interior designers and contractors through all project stages into design documentation and construction administration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, deliver and win design presentation opportunities for new medium- large sized projects on a consistent basis
  • Lead concept design and storytelling with a cross disciplinary team to define new experiences and opportunities for our clients
  • Brainstorm with in-house strategic planners to consider new solutions that address cultural opportunities in each project and redefine our understanding of every day paradigms
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers to develop client solutions and solve complex problems
  • Interface consistently and proactively with clients to ensure a smooth project delivery from inception to closure
  • Establish and maintain a high level of trust between the project team, client and other project stakeholders
  • Supervises the work and progress of Design team drawings, studies, specifications and other project tasks on multiple projects
  • Mentor and coach junior designers to enhance teamwork and skill-building
  • Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to share design and construction expertise in order to create inventive, well-crafted environments
  • Perform additional responsibilities necessary to help achieve business and/or project goals

  • 10+ years of experience in workplace interior design or architecture
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design or other related field
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), InDesign
  • A portfolio of signature conceptual design work, including several large-scale workplace transformation projects

  • Active presence in the market, active engagement in industry events
  • Effective in contributing to and supervising multiple projects at the same time
  • Knowledge of local codes and permitting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exemplary people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with clients, senior management, colleagues and junior team members
  • Able to identify, understand and leverage team members strengths to support project goals, team development and enhancement of individual skills
  • Effective mentorship abilities, becoming a trusted adviser and knowledgeable resource for more junior designers
  • Able to appreciate and learn from members of the organization at all levels
  • Ability to step up in a leadership position where necessary, with support from Directors

  • Able to move from small project to big picture perspective in order to develop a holistic strategy geared toward design deliverables
