Technical Designer - Interior Architecture

M Moser Associates award-winning New York office is hiring a Technical / Architectural Designer to join our growing team!

Job Overview

As an integral member of the Project Team, your job as a Technical Designer of Workplace Interiors with M Moser Associates is to generate ideas and advise clients/team members on technical design considerations throughout the entire project lifecycle of highly complex workplace projects.

Your expert technical knowledge and skills are necessary to the successful outcome of the project as early as schematic phase. You will become the go-to person when it comes to using your high level technical/computer design skills to turn ideas into reality. As our Architectural Designer, you will work closely with designers throughout test fit, schematic, design development, and construction document to ensure design integrity can and will be maintained at all stages of the project.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with Senior Designers and other design staff to troubleshoot and provide technical solutions for design challenges
  • Review and approve engineering and MEP consultant’s work to ensure compliance with design solution and timely submission of documents
  • Respond to RFI’s and RFQ’s
  • Ensure adherence to set budget and immediately inform the Project Manager and client of any potential variances to the budget
  • Execute drawings for tender, drawing detailing and construction documentation
  • For smaller projects, oversee all CD production and review
  • Create a master log of the project submittals
  • Ensure design complies with all applicable building codes and standards, helping other designers to take these restrictions into consideration during design phases

Requirements

As M Moser Associates’ Technical Designer you are not only exceptionally skilled at executing highly technical drawings but you are driven and enthusiastic about your ability to deliver projects with an exceptional level of detail and accuracy. You may not necessarily be interested in concept design but it is important as our Architectural Designer, to be okay with design development through design detailing.

To be successful in this job, you are someone who is motivated by exceeding client and team expectations by delivering complex projects with minimal conflict or revisions. You will be excited to mentor junior staff, sharing your expertise on technical coordination aspects of a project. Importantly, our Architectural Designers are confident in their abilities to communicate their robust technical knowledge as they collaborate in a team of varying creative professionals.


Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience working in a Design and/or Architecture firm (preferably in workplace) in a similar capacity, such as: Technical Coordinator, Job Captain, Architectural/ Technical Design, Project Architect and/or Project Manager
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related (Master’s preferred)
  • NCARB Certified Architect in the state of business preferred
  • Portfolio of technically complex corporate designs
  • Proficiency in Revit, MS Office
  • LEED AP / LEED GA preferred
  • Ability to successful lead Project Team through project delivery: design details, construction documents, construction administration and site lead
  • Ability to express self clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and communicate ideas in presentations to firm leaders, team members and clients.

Key Competencies

  • Experience with entire project lifecycle from pre-lease services through to post-occupancy
  • Extensive understanding of state and city building codes and ADA requirements
  • Ability to develop and coordinate all phases of architectural and construction documents
  • Possess strong architectural design and planning skills
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibly
  • Able to move from small project to big picture perspective in order to develop a holistic strategy geared toward design deliverables
  • Able to quickly and readily generate concepts for workplace environment using advanced skills in SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Suite
