An "ideal town"

The master plan was to conceive an “ideal town” mixed-used development with entertainment venues, towers and shops, all sharing curving pedestrian streets and landscaped plazas.

Designed as an iconic development outside of Delhi, India, Felix Plaza boasts a complex program that includes retail, residential and commercial towers, and a multiplex cinema. This new urban development is visible from the freeway and accessible via a landscaped buffer road.

In order to maximise the use of the site, all parking is located below grade. Additionally, the residential, commercial and retail parking garages are isolated from each other for security and convenience. Loading is also done below-grade to allow each segment of the program easy access for servicing. The site above has a building coverage of 40%, creating a significant amount of pedestrian space and landscape.

 Balancing amenity with necessity

The retail program is designed to act as a connector to the office tower, residential tower and multiplex. This gives a good traffic flow for the upper floor retail spaces and reinforces the urban feel of the development. The residential and commercial towers are situated at right angles to each other, allowing for unobstructed views and sunlight. The multiplex is situated at the opposite end of the development, thus balancing the land use, parking circulation and pedestrian load.

The project is finished in gold and bronze metal, white stone and beige tile, imparting a relaxed modern Indian feel. Fabric structures at the food court create shade and a comfortable public space.
