Curating a captivating brand journey

Orion Resource Partners,
New York

Orion Resource Partners, one of the world’s largest alternative finance providers to the metals and mining sector, partnered with M Moser to design their flagship space in New York.

Orion moved to the 25th floor of the trophy-class office tower and highly lauded architecture project on the corner of one of New York City’s most celebrated green spaces at 7 Bryant Park. The challenge was to create a dynamic space that would not only elevate Orion Resource Partners’ success story but instill confidence in potential investors and owners visiting the workplace.

Balancing old and new

The M Moser team worked with Orion’s Founder & CEO and COO to understand what aspects of the culture to capture in the built environment, balancing business drivers and anticipated growth to enable future flexibility.

Partnering with the leadership team at Orion, we analysed which offices were a business requirement rather than a cultural entitlement in order to address both progressive and practical aspects of the space. Private offices are planned towards the core of the building, prioritising natural daylight for the open office space. Retaining private offices not only reflects the practicality of the design, but highlights a transparent understanding of the business’ trajectory for transformation.

Creating a visual journey

Utilising the building’s signature cone-shaped glass façade on the East-facing wall as a staff pantry and gathering area serves to emphasise team success and flatten workplace hierarchy - everyone has access to the main architectural element of the building and the best view. Orion’s commitment to their people and their culture is brought into the design, bolstering the team’s interactions by providing a game room off the workspace for staff to connect and step away from their trading desks.

By focusing heavily on Orion’s brand, we created a story woven throughout the space. With its clients in mind, the design highlights the user journey from the elevator lobby to the workspace by incorporating the mining process – stripping away the wall covering to uncover stone and eventually metals within the reception desk.

Bringing in sweeping views of midtown and Bryant Park, and sharing the experience with clients, partners and staff was a key aspect of the design.

Precious metals and mining equipment take centre stage, complemented by elegant, understated finishes and backdrops. On route to the conference rooms, mining tools, such as a steam hoist, hammers, and precious metal samples create a strong visual journey through the entrance and reception area. The formality of conference rooms is guided by the value of the metals that influences each space - copper in the interview/lounge room and platinum in the executive-level boardroom.

A memorable brand hub to engage Orion’s key stakeholders, this New York workplace puts people at the heart of the office experience to create a visual storytelling experience that brings the business culture to life.
