Sharing insights on building a global firm at the AIA International Region 2019 Conference
Speaking at the AIA International Region 2019 Conference in Shanghai, Chairman and Founder, Moira Moser and Director, Christine Bruckner shared valuable insights on growing a global business with a foundation in Asia and the impact of sustainability-led design on communities and organisations.
Building a global firm – a view from outside
Ms Moser shared the company’s historical journey and the cultural contexts that enabled its inception. “Seeing that US companies with their eyes on China were establishing in Hong Kong and needed office facilities, we started our firm with just three people in 1981,” she shared. “As an American architect, I understood what US companies needed and understood how their projects could be delivered locally.”
As the nature of work continued to evolve, so did the needs of multinational clients. With a vision of supporting growing demands for the firm’s integrated design solutions in other markets, Ms Moser highlighted our commitment to “keeping good people”, who recognised the value in building a local presence around the world to work with clients more closely.
Illustrating M Moser’s work around the world, Ms Moser stressed the importance of building a global community working together to support the business and cultural transformation of clients.
“Our culture of internal collaboration globally and open exchange of information has enabled us to provide holistic solutions to our clients wherever they need us,” she shared. “We always find a way to expand our work in response to client demand, even where we don’t have an office.”
Sustainability and wellness
Dr Bruckner followed with practical insights on the growing need to create healthy, community-centric environments that support the health and social needs of their occupants with examples of our AIA-awarded work.
She highlighted M Moser’s leadership in sustainability and wellness design as a vital component of its integrated solution to supporting the growing needs of its global clients, reinforcing our commitment to designing workplace environments that improve people’s well-being.
Looking back on 38 years of transformation and adapting to the ever-changing nature of work, M Moser continues to create healthy, human-centric environments that enable people and businesses to achieve and exceed their potential.
