Bringing a concept to life

Reworking a rigid, cubicle-heavy layout, we wanted to revitalise the office and create a vibrant, technologically advanced and employee-centric workplace.

Rooted in the concept of ‘a link in the net,’ we structured the design around interconnectivity. Much like the semiconductors the company develops, the workspace is designed as a network of nodes, pathways and hubs linking people and ideas:

  • Workstations and collaborative hubs function as ‘silicon nodes,’ designed for deep focus and teamwork.
  • Corridors act as pathways, ensuring easy flow and movement between spaces.
  • Client-facing areas integrate hospitality elements, creating an inviting experience while maintaining a clear division from the back-of-house workspace.

This spatially dynamic experience-driven workplace supports interaction, efficiency, and innovation.

Innovation in every detail

Technology is at the core of the company’s business, so we embedded cutting-edge design tools to enhance visualisation, communication and decision-making throughout the project:

    • Real-time, on-site design updates using 3D modelling and AR/VR tools ensured collaboration and instant design modifications, making the process more efficient and transparent.
    • A Digital Direct Control (DDC) HVAC system enhances energy efficiency and improves workplace comfort.
    • Smart glass technology (switch glass) in boardrooms offers both privacy and daylight optimisation at the touch of a button.
    • Live procurement tracking linked every design element to materials and cost.
    • Visual Estimation Data Modelling provided instant insights into material quantities, cost forecasting, and sustainability calculations, ensuring efficient project execution.
    • Acoustic modelling and advanced sound absorption techniques created a workspace that is both vibrant and acoustically comfortable.

Sustainability without compromise

Our team took a holistic approach to sustainability. All stakeholders were educated on environmental impact throughout the project. Furthermore, working with our contractor and vendors, we embarked upon comprehensive waste management and demolition tracking. This allowed us to record and minimise overall environmental impact.

Designing to LEED and WELL Gold certification standards was a priority that guided our decisions:

    • Energy efficiency: Transitioned the HVAC system to an advanced electronic VAV system, significantly improving air quality and energy management.
    • Water conservation: Installed low-flow fixtures, reducing water consumption by 34%.
    • Responsible material selection: Every finish was chosen for its low environmental impact, EPD and HPD-certified materials, low-VOC finishes and regionally sourced products.
    • Employee wellbeing: Integrated ergonomic furniture, a mother’s room, a wellness room and a prayer room to support a healthier, more inclusive workplace.

The results?

  • A 17% increase in energy cost savings.
  • 12/12 WELL points in the lighting category, which we optimised for circadian rhythm.
  • A 77% reduction in landfill waste.

Our interactive 3D tools allowed this client to see and understand the overall sustainability strategy and process in real-time, ensuring confidence in both the design and execution.

A changing landscape

Just weeks into the project, the building’s property management changed. New regulations, standards and engineering requirements threatened to derail timelines and budgets.

Our solution? Intensive collaboration with new stakeholders, clear communication and rapid adaptation to evolving guidelines. Our proactive approach ensured that, even through challenges, our client’s vision remained intact.

Energising employees

Our zoning and layout strategy is designed to naturally guide visitors towards client areas while allowing employees direct access to their workstations. This promotes interaction while maintaining functional separation.

We created a destination workplace, one that employees are excited to come back to. By incorporating multi-use spaces, a dynamic work café, hot-desking zones and strategic workstation layouts with greenery views, we helped redefine what ‘a day at the office’ could look and feel like.

Delivering a benchmark workplace

The new Toronto HQ has become a high-performance, dynamic workplace and a benchmark for our client’s global locations. By merging technology, sustainability and human-centric design we exceeded expectations, reinvented the workplace and delivered an innovative, on-brand environment that supports ongoing company growth.
