Using workplace design to highlight difference
“Our relationship began following a meeting at a workplace we had delivered.” explains Senior Associate Designer, Richard Fisher. “The client was inspired by the way M Moser London team had pushed the boundaries of traditional financial sector office design”.
The design strategy was to create an aesthetic unlike a “typical” trading floor, for people to feel at home, at work. A warm interior design provides a homely sophistication for both focus and relaxation.
Responding to the nature of work
As an investment adviser, we recognised the sensitive nature of their work. To ensure privacy and create an elevated user journey for stakeholders, the client-facing meeting suite is located away from the trading floors and social areas.
The crittall partitioning throughout benefits from double glazed glass to create acoustically secure meeting spaces. Additionally, fabric wall panels in each meeting room help to soften the sound inside the room. Curtains add a elegance to the design, privacy when needed, and contribute to the acoustics.
Walls are built “slab to slab” to enhance the acoustic properties of the space. The client-facing meeting suite features a bespoke ceiling containing extra acoustic detailing.
Introducing new ways to work
Creating work environments that support every individual to be as effective as possible can have a dramatic impact on their overall output.
The space contains new settings to influence employee behaviours. When “heads down” work is required, a library space with focus rooms allows staff to recharge away from their desks and the energy of the trading floor.
Its people share a community ethos and an ongoing dedication to the business. The 4th floor offers a large breakout area to unwind and interact. A central counter island creates focal point to bring staff together.
Getting to know the client, we discovered that staff are into fitness and regularly take exercise classes together. A newly-formed shower room offers washing facilities throughout the working day.
“M Moser listened to our brief for a ‘homely’ feel office design, and turned it into a reality!
During the design process, the team proposed some amazing ideas. It was great to visualise the new space with the 3D renders produced.
We are thrilled with the quality of the fit out and the end result.”
