AstraZeneca’s Global R&D Centre in Beijing officially opens

As a core part of AstraZeneca’s USD 2.5 billion investment plan in China, the centre will lead drug discovery and clinical development, accelerating the translation of scientific breakthroughs into life-changing treatments. It will also strengthen collaboration with local clinical research institutes, universities and biotech enterprises, fostering an open, co-creative and continuously evolving research ecosystem.

The Centre integrates advanced AI and data-science facilities with a flexible, collaborative environment that supports research at every stage. Promoting open exchange and collaboration across disciplines, it unites global expertise with a spirit of innovation to drive scientific progress.

Aligned with AstraZeneca’s long-term Zero Carbon vision, the project targets multiple sustainability certifications, with health and wellbeing at its core.

• Shanghai Jing’an | Global R&D Centre Expansion – Recently completed, this facility enhances collaboration and innovation capacity across AstraZeneca’s R&D operations in China.
• Shanghai Zhangjiang | China Headquarters – With the design phase now complete, this project further strengthens the integration of research, management and sustainability.

Our collaboration with AstraZeneca extends beyond China, spanning from the Global Hub in Bangalore, India, to the recently completed Innovation Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
