We are pleased to share that two of our recent projects have been recognised for excellent working environment at the 12th CREDAWARD. The Gartner Beijing workplace received a Silver Award, while AstraZeneca’s new R&D Centre in Shanghai received a Merit Award. We celebrated these achievements with our clients at the ceremony, where AstraZeneca also received the Industry Contribution Award.

Gartner Beijing: Extending a global brand experience through a more efficient workplace

At Gartner’s Beijing workplace, we began with spatial efficiency, bringing together focused work, flexible collaboration, client reception, social interaction and global connectivity within 14,681 sq ft to create an efficient and adaptable workplace. Positioned at the centre, the reception area acts as a spatial hub: one side connects to the café, social spaces and areas for flexible collaboration, while the other leads to focused work areas and meeting spaces. Through a clear distinction between active and quiet zones, alongside a flexible layout, different working rhythms can shift naturally within the same environment, supporting a broader range of ways of working.

Alongside the diverse requirements of daily work, the project also considers environmental performance and global collaboration. Acoustically insulated meeting and focus spaces, air transfer systems, chilled ceilings and underfloor air distribution respond to the acoustic, air-quality and thermal-comfort requirements of a densely used workplace, while meeting-room technology supports clear and stable global connections. From early spatial decisions through to materials, wayfinding, artistic expression and local implementation, we translated Gartner’s global standards into the conditions of Beijing. Traditional motifs, hand-crafted ceramic artworks, art installations and Peking Opera mask patterns create a brand experience with a distinct Beijing identity.

Health and performance are woven into the workplace’s day-to-day use. Air purification, monitoring and real-time controls, together with an integrated consideration of lighting, acoustics, thermal comfort and ergonomic support, bring wellbeing into the everyday workplace experience. Sit-stand desks and adjustable task chairs further support different ways of working. The project’s WELL Gold and RESET Air certifications further reflect the balance achieved between health, performance and long-term operational value.

AstraZeneca R&D Centre Shanghai: Bringing zero-carbon ambitions into everyday experience

The new AstraZeneca Global R&D Shanghai Strategic Centre integrates sustainability and smart technology into the way the workplace is used every day.

Power-generating flooring and kinetic bikes allow employees to contribute to clean energy generation through movement and exercise. A real-time dashboard shows the energy generated, making the effect of that activity visible. These features sit alongside innovative materials and efficient engineering strategies, bringing the project’s zero carbon goals into daily use.

Full-spectrum intelligent lighting, air quality monitoring, acoustic optimisation and flexible workplace settings support a comfortable, healthy and efficient environment. Technology is embedded in the workplace, with a practical role in everyday use.

The strategic value of the workplace

These recognitions acknowledge what both projects achieved: workplaces shaped around the distinct needs, identities and priorities of the organisations they serve.

As we continue to support organisations and their people as they evolve, we thank the CREDAWARD organisers for recognising these projects, and our clients for their trust.
