In his presentation, “Invisible Levers: The Workplace as a Vehicle for Business Performance,” Grant examined how unseen dynamics within the shape how people engage, perform and thrive. He encouraged leaders to look beyond the physical environment and consider how strategy, behaviour and data converge to create meaningful impact.

With Australia investing over $10 billion annually in workplaces, Grant challenged the audience to move beyond conventional metrics and uncover the hidden factors that influence performance. He framed the discussion around four common frictions — indecision, misaligned value, fixed solutions and complication — offering practical ways to turn these challenges into opportunities for transformation. He highlighted how a strategic approach to workplace design can turn complexity into measurable performance.

Drawing from recent projects, he shared how data-led decisions, adaptable design, and integrated technology are driving stronger engagement, increased attendance, and enhanced employee satisfaction. Grant concluded by calling for a broader view of workplace strategy. One that embraces complexity and recognises the interplay between people, technology and design.

When we understand and activate the invisible levers within our organisations, we create workplaces that empower people and enable performance.
