Created by M Moser’s Brand Experience team, Resonance is an immersive audio-visual installation. It uses wearable electroencephalogram (EEG) headset that measures electrical activity in the brain and translates it into light, colour and sound. After being featured in London and Amsterdam, we brought it to Sydney for the CoreNet Global Australia Conference, where it drew significant interest from industry leaders and visitors.
Inside the booth, participants saw their brainwaves visualised in real time. No two experiences were the same. As the artwork changed, so did the person’s response, creating a feedback loop that revealed just how individual our relationship with space can be.
At its core, Resonance is a celebration of diversity in human response. All brainwave frequencies are always present, but their prominence shifts with thought, focus and environment stimuli. By visualising these patterns, the installation creates a space to reflect on how differently people experience the same setting and why workplaces should be designed to reflect that diversity.
Attendees in Sydney quickly made the connection: if environments can trigger such distinct responses, then designing for the “average” user is no longer enough. Conversations at CoreNet highlighted this potential: using data alongside surveys to brief new projects, testing how people respond to sensory environments or supporting wellness programmes that allow individuals to recognise and influence their own state.
It gives a different perspective of our minds and how our environments have an effect on the way we feel.
Resonance visitorResonance points to the future of workplace research: combining human feedback with measurable data to show how people truly engage with their surroundings. This approach gives clients a powerful tool to make more informed choices and ensures that the spaces we create empower people.
Spaces shape the way we live. The more we understand people’s experience of their surroundings, the better we can design workplaces to meet a diverse range of needs and allow people to thrive in these environments.
Sally Chu, Director Design M MoserThis thinking underpins our work across Australia, on projects like the award-winning GSK workplace in Melbourne. By working with organisation to set a new benchmark for inclusivity and user-centred offices, we remain committed to working with clients to create spaces that celebrate diversity and support everyone to succeed.
