Milliken is a diversified industrial manufacturing company. They combine design and scientific innovation to add value to people’s lives, improve health and well-being, and help make the world more sustainable.
The brief was to create an environment where clients could come and see products and the team could host a mix of flexible work, meetings and events. We designed and built a 5,000 sq ft showroom, connecting three floors of the Victorian building with staircases to improve the flow of the space.
M Moser worked with Milliken on a number of other showrooms around the world too. Together we developed a neutral style where product takes centre-stage, similar to the concept for gallery. Each building is chosen carefully. Original features add to the character of the brand and help it fit within the local area.
In the Clerkenwell showroom, accents come from Milliken’s product, with wall and floor displays changing regularly. Exposed brick and natural wood add warmth and character. Everything was selected to be extremely hard-wearing, so that it continues to look good each time the display is refreshed.
The first floor office contains a large meeting room and casual spaces for staff and clients to collaborate on projects. An extensive product catalogue is displayed in carefully balanced light that allows the products to be viewed in true colour.
Following the success of projects in New York, Chicago, Shanghai and Beijing, the Clerkenwell showroom began M Moser’s relationship with Milliken in Europe.
We later helped them open the Paris showroom in early 2018. In 2021, we were delighted to learn that Milliken achieved WELL Building Standard Platinum certification for the space. This reflects both brand’s commitment to wellbeing and the lasting value of the design.
The new Clerkenwell showroom is true to the Milliken brand standards established by M Moser in New York, Chicago, Shanghai and Beijing but also captures the vibrant, bohemian spirit that uniquely defines Clerkenwell.Alison Kitchingman, Director of Marketing and Design, Milliken EMEIA
